Sending and presentation

Presentation, and what we can and cannot do

Presentation, and what we can and cannot do

Presentation does a disproportionate amount of the work in gift giving, and it is worth being clear about which parts of it come with an order and which parts are yours to do.

Here is exactly what happens to a parcel, and the two gaps we would rather name than let you discover.

What arrives presented

Anything sold as a gift box, a basket or a set arrives in its own presentation packaging, inside a plain outer carton. The box the recipient sees is not the box the carrier handled, which is the point of the double packing.

These can be handed over as they are. Nothing needs to be transferred and no additional wrapping is required for them to look finished.

What arrives as a product

Individual items – a candle, a mug, a piece of jewellery – arrive in their manufacturer packaging. Jewellery comes in a pouch or a small box; most other things come in a printed carton.

These look like products because they are products. If they are going to be given directly, they will want wrapping, and that is worth knowing before the parcel arrives on the morning of the occasion.

Two things we do not offer

There is no gift-wrapping option at checkout, and there is no facility to add a written message card. Both are real gaps and we would rather say so plainly than let you look for the option and conclude you missed it.

The practical workaround for both is to have the order delivered to yourself rather than to the recipient, which also removes the packing slip issue below.

The packing slip shows the contents

Every parcel carries a slip listing what is inside. If you send directly to a recipient, they will see that list before opening anything, so this is not a blind gift service.

For a care package or anything where speed matters more than surprise, that is irrelevant. For a birthday surprise, order to yourself.

Nothing here is made to order

Where a piece carries an engraving, a letter or a date, that is a stock variant rather than something produced for your order. The listing title states which letter or wording it carries.

This means it ships as fast as anything else, and it also means we cannot change the wording. If a specific name or date is essential, this is not the right catalogue for it.

Wrapping something awkwardly shaped

Mugs, bottles and anything cylindrical are the usual defeat. The trick is to stop trying to wrap the shape and instead wrap a box that contains it, which is why so much giftware is sold boxed in the first place.

Where there is no box, a fabric wrap tied at the top handles curves in a way paper cannot, and it does not need to be neat to look deliberate. Paper on a cylinder always looks like paper on a cylinder.

Buying in person solves most of this

The counter can wrap, can advise, and removes the delivery window entirely. For anything time-sensitive or anything needing presentation beyond what a box provides, the shop is genuinely the better route.

The website exists for the orders that can wait six to thirteen business days, and it is honest about the fact that many gift purchases cannot.

From our shelves

Larger comfort pieces, which travel in their own packaging. Everything below is in stock as this piece is published, and the prices shown are read live from the catalogue rather than typed into the article, so they cannot drift out of date. Across the whole group prices currently run from $19.99 to $39.97, and the listing pages carry the full specification for each one.

These are 2 of the items in Blankets and Comfort; the category page lists the rest with current stock and pricing.

Ordering, delivery and returns

Delivery costs $5.99 per order, or nothing at all from $49 upwards. Orders are packed in one to three business days and travel for five to ten, so plan on six to thirteen business days between placing an order and opening the box. Everything ships from New York, NY, to United States addresses.

If something is not right, the return window is 30 days from delivery for unused goods in their original packaging. The Shipping Policy and the Refund and Returns Policy carry the detail, and the FAQ answers the questions that come up most often.
